Introduction

The Department of Tourism, Fair Trading and Wine Industry Development (DTFTWID) is committed to protecting user privacy. We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this web site are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to us. Privacy

The Queensland Government has established a privacy regime for the Queensland Public Sector based on 11 Information Privacy Principles which regulate, among other things, the collection, storage, accuracy, use and disclosure of personal information. The 11 Information Privacy Principles are contained in an Information Standard that agencies are required to adhere to. A copy of this standard (Information Standard No.42) can be accessed at http://www.governmentict.qld.gov.au/02_infostand/standards/is42.htm (Information Standards).

Collection of clickstream and other information

This is a cookie-free site. When you look at this web site our server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only - the user's server address, the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, etc.) the date and time of visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents down loaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used. No attempt is, or will be made to identify users or their browsing activities, except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.

This is a Queensland Government website. E-mail correspondence sent to this site will be treated in accordance with the Public Records Act 2002 and other relevant regulations.

Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list unless you request it, nor will these details be disclosed to third parties without your consent, unless required by law. However, e-mail messages may be monitored by our web site support staff for system trouble shooting and maintenance purposes.

Collection of personal information

The main way that we collect personal information from you is where you have lodged forms prescribed or approved under the legislation we administer e.g. to register a business name or to obtain some form of occupational licence. Personal information may include your full name, date of birth, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, residential and postal address. Whenever personal information is collected, reasonable steps shall be taken to inform you of the purpose for which the information is collected and, where applicable, any law that requires particular information to be collected.

Access to and amendment of personal information held by the department

You can ask whether we are keeping personal information about you by sending an e-mail to privacy@dtftwid.qld.gov.au, or by writing to us c/- GPO Box 1141, Brisbane Q 4001. If we do have information on file you can ask to access a copy of it. You may also wish to apply to amend the information if you believe it to be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date or misleading. There is no charge for an individual to seek access to or apply to amend their personal information. However, your right of access to and amendment of personal information is subject to exceptions provided in the Freedom of Information Act 1992 or any other State Law.

Please note that before providing you with any of your personal information we will ask you to provide evidence of your identity.

How do I amend my personal information?

  1. A formal application under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (steps are outlined on the Freedom of Information section) to amend personal information must:
    • be in writing;
    • state an address to which a notification of the decision may be sent;
    • specify the particulars you wish to have amended; and
    • give details as to why the information is believed to be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date or misleading.
